I thought I’d check the weather out online for the weekend as I’m hoping to dust the bike down and get out for a ride, and noticed a whole new BBC weather site. It mirrors the style and format as the TV weather broadcasts, although I have to say from an usability point of view, first impressions aren’t great. You’re greeted with a welcome message and search box, having to scroll down to see anything resembling weather map. It doesn’t seem to be all that well received by the online community, with Twitter users unanimous in giving it a rainy cloud rating.

Yes. The Beeb seem to have forgotten about Scotland, too. You can’t view the country as a whole and the obligatory regional views are inconsistent, and don’t have spot temperatures or wind speeds.
It’s like the Beeb don’t get it that some of us, north and south of the border, travel coast to coast and would like to get that kind of view, and some of us go up mountains or out in boats so we could use some idea of localised wind speed and direction.
What a shabby do. I’m using http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ where it’s not so pretty but pretty accurate.

Thanks for the tip! I’m a southerner, but used to live in the midlands (to southerners, the north) and still get annoyed with the perspective on the TV weather that makes the north of England and Scotland seem tiny.
