… some more iPad padding

by Phil Szomszor on January 28, 2010

So, what can be said about the iPad that hasn’t already been said? Not alot. It’s times like this that Google’s realtime search comes into its own – the level of comment and coverage is quite extraordinary.

My thoughts on the iPad? It’s an awful name and yes, it’s basically an overgrown iPod Touch, so nothing ground-breaking technologically. But, it will sell by the bucketload. I’ve noticed even in the last year the amount of people playing with their iPhones on the train rather than reading a book or paper. Across the world, millions of those people will be reading ‘papers’ on the move, playing games and unlocking badges on Foursquare. Schools will kit out their pupils with them. Handbags will be designed around them.

In short, it might not seem like a game changer today, but just like the original iMac, the iPod and iPhone, the iPad is Apple’s fourth ‘great’ product, even if nothing actually about it appears to be that great.

I couldn’t see the point in buying one to be honest. But if it’s a good excuse to buy a new handbag, that might change things…

If “less is more” then this is more or less what I expected!

It will sell by the container load, but on the technical side it is disappointing.
