When I woke up on Saturday, that itchy leg that I was getting had developed into Eczema, with an irritating rash over my legs and back. Confirmed by my nurse mates Em and Caroline, I think I need to do something about the stress situation. I know it’s not really about the Tri: driving less than a thousand miles a week, more sleep and finding somewhere to live would be a start.

So, what better tonic than a weekend away with my mates? After a bit of a problem with the campsite owner, who has a weird obsession with signs all over his site, Mat and I set off for a cycle ride on Saturday afternoon, clocking up 54 miles and averaging 13.8 mph (not a great average, but it was hilly). We basically circumnavigated Cadair Idris and took in the coast near Barmouth. It was fantastic to give the bike it’s first proper test and I came back with legs like jelly. On Sunday we took it easier, riding 45 miles on a coastal route, but I did break my landspeed record - a nifty 38.8 mph.

Monday was time for a swim, ready for next weekend, but more on that later…
