Top three races of 2007

Inspired by reading this month’s Runners’ World, I went out on my Findern six miler today. With clear blue skies and nothing booked in for the day, there was no excuse not to, and it was a great run (if a little slow).
This month’s Runners’ World is crammed full of post-Christmas advice and 2007’s top 50 races. There were some surprises in there: the London Marathon only came in at number 12 and the GNR was number 27.
The Hastings Marathon, which I’ll be doing as my next Septathlon event, was number 25 and I quite like the look of New Forest 10k (17th) and the St Albans Half (40).
The top three were:
3 – North Downs Run 30k, June, Kent (not on your nelly, “demanding” and a bit long for me)
2 – Easy Runner Sodbery Slog, November, Bristol (looks like a beauty; loads of water and a picture of Darth Vader running through the a swamp to advertise it)
1 – Northumberland Coastal Run, July, Alnmouth (looks great and the only race where people stop to take pictures en route)
So, plenty of choice for runs this year. As well as having another crack at a tri, I’m also thinking of doing the London to Brighton cycle ride in June. Well that nice racer I bought last year does need some practice.
