7 miles near Mickleover

It’s a good job that I’ve got the Hastings Half to work towards as today would have been one of those days where I quite easily could have dossed. But the day was crisp and clear, and I’ve got to get some miles in. I’ve been reasonably active, playing football and doing Box Fit (the new name for Boxercise; obviously the old name was too camp), but the longest run I’ve done since Christmas has been 4 miles.

  • Miles: 7 (ish)
  • Time: 1.04.47
  • Calories burned: 1050 (but I scoffed crisps as soon as I got home)
  • Average heart rate: 171
  • Number of dogs: 11
  • Top track: “Just for Tonight”, One Night Only

So, after having a gander at the Derby OS map, I devised a seven miler, which went down a disused railway, then turning up towards the village of Radbourne. I stuck to the roads, rather than going cross-country, but it was still preferable to run past fields than around the city. I can tell that I’ve not done much running though as my back and feet ached and my toes got pins and needles (yes, I’m a wuss). More miles needed.
