Running away

Written by

I went on a rare run last night in Derby, heading out to Findern on a five miler. After pulling my back out and having about a month out of action, I’ve realised how quickly you can lose what form you do have. During my run, I had pins and needles in my feet, a slightly sore ankle and my top felt rather stretched over my portly frame. The good news is that I’ve been this unfit before and I know I can get it back (perhaps laying off the beer and pizza would help too, though Cathy would probably disagree).

It’s the second of my Septathlon events on the 20th April, the Derby 10K, and I’ve revised my expectations - rather than breaking any records, I’ll be happy to do it in an hour.

Then it’s just a week before I head on a two week cycling holiday in Slovakia, which inevitably involves buying a new bike. With the help of my mate Mat, I’m now the proud owner of a hardly used red Saracen Skyline, which normally retails for £600 and I bought on eBay for £275. Result. I just need to think about where I’m going to store them all for when I move to London in a couple of weeks.
